The office door creaked open, and, with a sigh, Mako stepped in.
He was quite a sight- scratches and nicks littering his face, and scarf torn in half.
He and the other officers had been at what was now known as an Aftershock Rally- a violent rally containing what was left of the Equalists.
When the police attempted to sneak in, they were sniffed out and attacked with chi-blocking on all sides. Some of them even had weapons, resulting in the firebender's scratched-up appearence and ripped scarf.
The police had escaped, and the rally disbanded for the time being. Needless to say it had been a long day for everyone, especially Mako- the rookie.
His office was the smallest in the building- a desk, chair, emergency phone, and a bulletin board for wanted posters, important phone numbers, and maps.
The young officer slumped into the chair, gazing at the destroyed fabric in this hands. It was heartbreaking, really, but there were risks that came with being a RCPF (Republic City Police Force) and loss of belongings was one of them, apparently.
He clutched the scarf sadly, but then dropped it onto his desk.
"I'll fix it later," he muttered to himself.
As the scarf touched the desk with a light rustle, Mako was surprised to hear, as well, the shuffling of paper. He lifted his scarf quickly to reveal a small folded note. It was full of creases, as if had been folded many times previously. He hesitantly unfolded it.
The edges had a ripped texture, as if the rectangle of paper had been torn off a larger piece.
There was writing on the paper, of course, scrawled in a rushed, excited sort of way.
Mako could only guess who the note was from. A smile already forming on his face, he began to read...
Hey, Hotshot! I hear today was your first big mission. That's so cool, and I'm jealous!
Tenzindragged took me to the library to read about the history of bending- laaaame! I ripped a page out of a book- don't worry, it was blank- and wrote this, then on our way out I gave it to an officer to give to you.
Anyway, I hope this little note brightens your day.
I love you.
-Korra
Mako found himself laughing at the message, then blushing while reading the end.
The young officer tacked the note up onto the bulletin board, right in the middle.
It had brightened his day, and would brighten many more to come.

Later On
Although she didn't want to let him go to her, she had to. Asami needed Mako to be with her, to reassure and comfort her from the shock that she received earlier that night. The truth that her father, Hiroshi Sato, was in league with Amon and the Equalists was just too much for her to bear alone. Korra felt sorry for Asami, she truly did but at the same time she still couldn't ignore her feelings of dislike for Asami. If Mako never had met Asami then there might have been a chance for her and Mako as a couple but now that possibility grew smaller and smaller.
"She's going to need you Mako." Korra said.
Mako gave a small nod then turned arou

.:Legend of Korra:. Keeping The Promise
The breeze gently caressed the family's faces. The sun shone too bright for such a day. In the movies, it always rained at funerals, but there wasn't even a cloud in the sky today. It could have been any other day, and to some it was, but for them today was different.
Rows and rows of caskets, covered with their individual flags, were lined up in the cemetary. A neat, 6 ft. hole was dug beside some, while some had already been buried. The family walked through the caskets, looking for one in particular. All around them, families huddled around the death beds of their loved ones. Flowers littered the ground, and not one face wasn't wet with

...I'd so do that too...just minus all the ripping of the book and all.
